In Which Gregory Corso Throws Love Out The Window

In combined honor of Corporations Say Buying Things = Love Valentine’s Day and Poetry Friday, Stone-Bow offers you a poem from Beat poet Gregory Corso. Find out more about him here!

As a poet and YA librarian, I’m often stymied by the small number of poetry volumes aimed at young adults. We have The Surrender Tree, A Wreath For Emmett Till, Beat Voices, Jazz ABZ, Tough Boy Sonatas, Your Own, Sylvia, and a few others, but our offerings are scant. Anyone have poetry books that their teens are into?

There’s a tangential ramble waiting to happen on the need to teach our kids and teens how to love poetry, not dissect it as is the current focus, but I will write it another day. For now, happy poetry Friday, and be well!
